马首是瞻
再回过头看，玉皇大帝的“天印”又变成了一只栩栩如生的马头!
传说当年薛仁贵征东，率领大军经过崂山，因为贪看美景，走迷了路，非常着急，只好骑着马爬上山头，向远处瞭望，才找到了出山的道路。三军将士高兴得齐声大喊：“唯薛将军马首是瞻!”那喊声山鸣谷应，那匹战马也因得意忘形，竟变成了石马。因此，这处景观称“马首是瞻”。

Looking back, the Heavenly seal of the Jade Emperor now looks like a horse's head.
Legend has it that, during general Xue Rengui's military expedition to the east, one day he and his great army passed by Laoshan Mountain, and he was so absorbed in the beautiful scenery, that he got lost. He was anxious and rode to the mountain top to look into the distance, and in this way he found the route out. Delighted, the Army shouted: At General Xue's command for ever! Startled by the shouts, the general’s horse turned into a stone horse. Therefore, this scenic spot is also named Mashou Shizhan, which means take the head of the general's horse as guide.

말수시잠(馬首是瞻)
머리를 돌려보니 옥황상제의 ‘천인(天印)’이 생동하는 말의 머리로 변했습니다.
전해지는 말에 의하면 서인귀(薛仁貴)라는 사람이 동쪽으로 대군을 거느리고 노산에 지나갔을 때, 노산에 아름다운 경치에 빠져 길을 잃어버렸고, 말을 타고 산 위에 올라가서 멀리 바라보고 나서야 나갈 길을 찾을 수 있었다고 합니다. 전군하는 병사들이 기쁜 기색으로 장군의 말을 영원히 들겠다고 외쳤습니다. 그 외친 소리가 산골짜기에 울려퍼졌습니다. 그 전마도 물 본 기러기, 꽃 본 나비처럼 득의양양하였기 때문에 석마로 변하였습니다. 그러므로 이곳의 경치는 ‘말수시잠’이라고 불렸습니다.

その年薛仁貴が東へ出征し、大軍を率いて嶗山を通した時、道に迷いましたので、非常に焦り、馬に乗っていて山の頂に登るほかなく、遠い所を眺めて、やっと山から出る道が見つかったそうです。三軍の将兵がうれしくて一斎に大声で「永遠に薛将軍のいいなりになります!」と叫び音の山に鳴くように叫んで、あの軍馬も有頂天になるため、意外にも石馬になりました。そのため、この景観は「follow one's lead（他人の行動や指示に喜んで従う）」と呼ばれています。
