Erlong Mountain Scenic Area

Erlong Mountain Scenic Area is located in the north section of Laoshan Yangkou Scenic Area. It is adjacent to Yangkou Scenic Area and Laoshan National Forest Park on the south, and to Wanggezhuang Sub-District Office and the Seaside Sightseeing Avenue of Qingdao on the north. The scenic area, which enjoys a very good geographical location, features an agreeable climate, picturesque sceneries, and well-established infrastructure. There are two reservoirs, namely, Xiaowang Reservoir and Tangziguan Reservoir, which are the sources of the high quality Laoshan water.

Xiaowang Reservoir 

The reservoir consists of two ponds, one big and one small, built right next to each other at different elevations by the foot of Erlong Mountain. The water is crystal-clear and emerald-colored. Embraced by lush mountains on three sides, the place witnesses blooming flowers in spring, running waterfall in summer, colorful trees in autumn and fascinating sceneries of ice and snow in winter.With blue sky and clear water all year round, it offers unparalleled views of natural landscape.

Tangzi Taoist Temple

The temple was built in the Song Dynasty and repaired in the 8th year of the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty. It is one of the 9 big and 8 small Taoist temples on Laoshan Mountain. Zhenwu Hall is its main hall where Emperor Zhenwu and the gods of wind, rain, thunder and lightning are worshiped. The front hall is for the God of Wealth where Guan Yu, Bi Gan and Fan Li are worshiped. The east hall is Wenchang Hall, where Emperor Wenchang, Wenquxing (the god in charge of literary affairs) and Wuquxing (the god in charge of martial art) are worshiped. In the early Qing Dynasty, Guo Xiu, an imperial scholar from Jimo who became the governor general of Huguang (including today’s Hunan and Hubei) studied here when he was a child. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Wu Jieshan, a Taoist monk, renovated the temple and renamed it Canxia Taoist Temple. In the early years of the Republic of China period, the name Tangzi Taoist Temple. Lin Zhonggui, a selected imperial scholar from Laizhou was invited to set up a school and teach here.    

Tangzi Taoist Temple is situated in beautiful surroundings. Embraced by maintains and creeks. The temple and the yard are clean and elegant with green pine trees among grotesque rocks. The temple is an ideal place for Taoist self-cultivation.
