Huichang Community

At the north of Laoshan Mountain and besides the bay of Wanggezhuang Subdistrict lies a beautiful village. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one side with villas scattered around under the blue sky. This favored site of photographers is called Huichang Community.

During Yongle Period of the Ming Dynasty (1403-1424), the Zhang family originally from Xiaoyunnan of Shanxi Province first moved and settled here; afterwards, the Du family and the Liu family, which were also from Xiaoyunnan of Shanxi Province, first moved to Baimiao Community in Jimo County and Gangdong Community respectively and later settled here.In early years, residents burned shells of oysters to ash for construction usage, therefore the place was named “Huichang”(ash factory). The current name is homonym of the original name.

Huichang Community possesses the largest and most flat tidal flat in Laoshan Mountain. When temperature rises in ebb tides, the beach presents rich seafood. Standing at the seaside, you will find Pingding Mountain in the west, beautiful Laoshan Mountain in the North, Xiaopenglai in the north with Wanghai Pavilion on hills and vast sea in the east. Except gorgeous scenery, you can also enjoy the most fresh seafood of Laoshan, pick fruits, vegetables and tea or go fishing here. With its ideal geographic and natural environments, Huichang Community has become a charming village in Laoshan that integrates touring, family hotel, local dinning and wedding photo shooting.
