Qingdao Laoshanwan Fishing Village Folk Museum

Located in Huangshan Community, Wanggezhuang Sub-district, Laoshan District, the museum mainly displays objects related to folk customs of marine production, marine life, marine festivals and marine products in Laoshan Bay. It covers a floor area of more than 1,600 m2 and an exhibition area of more than 1,200 m2, with a total investment of RMB 3.7 million.

The museum has a total collection of more than 320 folk exhibits, with 3 exhibition halls for marine production, fishing village sentiment, marine products and 7 exhibition halls for Huangshan fishing village, people's livelihood, jellyfish reputation, seafood variety, fishing village fun, fishing charm experience and folkways retention. (There are specimens of more than 100 species of fish, shellfish, mollusks and crustaceans displayed in the exhibition area; 10 pictures of marine organisms; 10 wall-hang specimens of shells; more than 10 nets; 16 exhibition boards for folk customs, fishery and ecological protection.) 

It mainly reflects the representative marine cultural events and inheritance changes in Huangshan fishing village in modern times through physical objects, pictures, images and other means, and shows the local conditions and customs of the fishing village and the industrious and talented people.

As a window to display the history and folk culture of the most famous village of jellyfish with Chinese characteristics, the museum was opened to the public in August 2015. Since its opening, it has received more than 200,000 tourists from all over the country. Through the collection and display of fishing village folk customs, it has become a window to understand the fishing folk customs in Laoshan, Qingdao and a base for marine popular science education for citizens, tourists, especially teenagers.
