Qingshan Community

Situated at the west bank of Qingshan Bay and 13km southeast of Wanggezhuang Subdistrict, Qingshan Community is an ancient fishing village at the north of Laoshan Taiqing Scenic Area. It consists of several natural villages of Bashuihe, Lizi'an, Jumulin, etc. In this “ isolated ” land with soothing mountains and sea lie various natural sites such as Qingshan Dock and Shijin Bay. Here you can find rural dining with distinct local characteristics. In 2012 it made the list of the first batch of “National Traditional Villages”.

In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, the Jiang Family came from Nanjuezhaike and built a village here, naming it after the surrounding lush hills and crystal waters as Qingshan (meaning green hills). Houses here, be it storied houses of white walls and red tiles or stone cottages with thatched roofs, are built against mountains and facing the sea. Plants thrive here with trees, vines, bamboo and flowers. Standing at the steep cliffs of Qingshan Bay, you will find ships sailing with sea gulls chasing one another in the vast sea. Looking into the distance, Laoshantou Peninsular stretches to the sea and cloud and mist twist around Taiqing Temple among the grand peaks. Here with the blue water of Qingshan Bay and Qingshan Village in woods, you will feel as if in a fairyland.

With a charming landscape of green hills and crystal waters. Qingshan Village is an ideal place to grow Laoshan tea. Its geographic advantages provide ample sunshine, frequent mountain rains and sea mist for the vigorous growing of tea trees. Tea produced here are favored for its high quality and rich nutrients and has already become one pillar of local economy. The village also develops mariculture of kelp, sea cucumber, abalone, etc. Dried seafood produced here such as salted fish, fillet and salted jellyfish strips are also famous for their good taste.
