Shazikou Subdistrict

Situated in the southwest piedmont of Laoshan Moutain in the east of Qingdao, Shazikou Subdistrict is adjacent to the core of Laoshan Scenic Area. It sits in the transition zone between Qingdao urban area and Laoshan Scenic Area on the south touring route of Laoshan Mountain, a golden tourism belt along the coast of Qingdao.

Shazikou boasts rich natural resources. Enjoying a fame at home and abroad, Laoshan spring is praised as "water of longevity" as it is rich in various micro-elements needed by the human body. Overseas Chinese regard it as the "home water" and its derivatives such as "Tsingtao Beer", "Laoshan Beer" and "Laoshan Mineral Water " enjoy world fame. Laoshan tea, one of local agricultural specialties with established reputation, wins its fame for its exquisite taste and high economic efficiency. Besides, Laoshan mushroom, Laoshan potherb, Laoshan fiddlehead and other green foods also win the favor of visitors. It is also rich in seafood such as sea cucumber, abalone , prawn, crab, scallop and fishes with an annual production of 40,000 tons.

Currently, Shazikou Subdistrict possesses a 4A level scenery area (Huadong Baili Manor), a 3A level scenery area (Shiwan Forest Park), a national industrial tourism demonstration site (Qingdao Huadong Wineray Co., Ltd), a national, a provincial and a city level agricultural tourism site (namely Baiquelin Eco-touring Park, Wanlijiang Tea Plantation and Jiushuigou Eco-touring Park respectively). The subdistrict also wins the title of Leading Tourism Town of Shandong Province and its Dongmaiyao Community is listed as China Model Rural Tourism Village.
